About Us

Dr. Louise Murray is an experienced and highly regarded veterinarian who has a passion for the health and wellbeing of pets. As a recognized expert in her field, she has appeared on many national television programs.

 

Dr. Louise Murray Dr. Louise Murray is an experienced and highly regarded authority in her profession. During her ten-plus years as a practitioner, she has lectured frequently on a wide range of topics, gaining her the respect of her colleagues. She has also been honored with several prestigious awards and has had her research published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Murray has always distinguished herself as a leader, both at school and throughout her career. After graduating cum laude from Duke University, Dr. Murray received her doctorate from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she was elected to the Phi Zeta Honor Society. She then pursued her residency at The Animal Medical Center, a leading veterinary hospital in New York, afterwards receiving board certification in the specialty practice of small animal internal medicine. Today, she is the Director of Medicine for the ASPCA.

In addition to overseeing the doctors and other staff members, Dr. Murray is the director of the intern program; she also continues to treat her own and referred patients at the hospital and perform specialized procedures such as endoscopy and ultrasound.

Besides being a highly regarded practitioner, Dr. Murray is a recognized expert in the field. Dr. Murray has appeared on CNN American Morning and Anderson Cooper 360, ABC World News Tonight and Good Morning America, ABC 7 New York Viewpoint, NBC Nightly News, NBC 4 Live at 5, CBS The Early Show, CBS 2 News This Morning, MTV, FOX News Live, FOX 5 Good Day New York, and Animal Planet’s Animal Precinct, and has provided veterinary information to many magazines and newspapers including the New York Times, USA Today, the New York Post, the New York Daily News, People Magazine, and others. She has served on several veterinary committees and is a member of The American Veterinary Medical Association and The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. 

Through her daily practice as well as her speaking appearances, Dr. Murray strives to improve the health and wellbeing of her pet patients. She believes in sharing her knowledge with pet owners so they are better able to demand and receive the medical attention available for their pets; similarly, by conveying her experiences to her colleagues, she encourages them to provide the best care possible.

Dr. Murray lives in Manhattan with her husband, Captain Peter Archer of the FDNY, and her two cats Dov and Siena.
